Founding the Scouts

A long, long time ago, in 2007 to be exact, on a warm day in June, Farasha spent the day at Beansalad's house, working on what else but cosplay. As her hands became coated with black fabric paint, and as Beansalad began to crave more nicotine, they took a break on the porch. Discussions abounded, and before they knew it, the conversation went something like this:
Farasha: Where are the rest of the Houston cosplayers?
Beansalad: Well, there's Cloudface. And Lady Marion. And Aaron. And-
Farasha: People we've known before they cosplayed.
Beansalad: Well... yeah. Hey! We should make something to get everyone together!
And so, the Houston Cosplay Scouts were born.

Actually, we were bored, but the other version sounds cooler.

Questions, Comments, Concerns

Do we have a mascot?

We have several mascots that our members are hard at work designing - one for every section of Houston! The two mascots that are done so far are Sailor Woodlands (by DugFinn) and Sailor Tomball (by Farasha).

How do I join the Houston Cosplay Scouts?

You simply sign up for an account on the forums.

I signed up for an account but it was never activated. Did I do something wrong?

No, you didn't. The Houston Cosplay Scouts forums have a massive problem with spam accounts, and there's only one person to manage them all. Your account will be activated as soon as Farasha digs through the (thousands) of spam accounts to find you, the real person. It will be easier on her if you list your location as "Houston" upon joining.

There's a Scouts meetup scheduled, but I don't have a costume. Can I come anyway?

Of course you can come anyway - unless noted otherwise. There are some meetups where we prefer all of our members to be in costume. However, if you really can't find something to throw together, even at the last minute, then we certainly won't throw you out. This goes double for photographers - they are always welcome, in cosplay or no.
